Iwagumi

A minimalist Japanese style focused almost entirely on stone arrangement (usually 3, 5, or 7 stones following the “main, secondary, and tertiary” hierarchy). Plants are secondary — typically low-growing carpeting species that carpet the substrate. The result is clean, contemplative, and sculptural. Negative space and precise stone placement create elegance and tranquillity, ideal for a high-end, refined aesthetic.
